Deadly Bomb Blast

On February 28, 2025, a devastating explosion occurred during Friday prayers at a mosque in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. The blast resulted in multiple casualties, with several individuals feared dead or injured. Emergency responders from Rescue 1122 promptly arrived at the scene, and law enforcement agencies have commenced an investigation into the incident.

The explosion took place in the main hall of the madrassa during the congregational prayers. Authorities have declared an emergency in Nowshera to manage the crisis effectively. Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stated, “It appears to be a suicide blast, as per initial investigations. Some are injured and some are among the martyrs.”

The madrassa, established by Islamic scholar Maulana Abdul Haq Haqqani in September 1947, has previously faced scrutiny when its students were alleged to be involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. However, the institution has consistently denied any links to the suspects.

This tragic event underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region, particularly targeting places of worship. Authorities are working diligently to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
