It was started in 1999, with an aim to help the students to understand their capability and to certify that the best scientific talent is refreshed for experimentation and development in the country. Fair scholarships are given to the selected Candidates up to the pre Ph.D. level or 5 years whichever is earlier of both.

Scholarship Amount-

During the period of the program, the amount of scholarship granted is-
For first three years – monthly scholarship granted is Rs.5000 and the annual grant is Rs.20000.

For next two years- monthly scholarship granted is Rs.7000 and the annual grant is Rs.28000.

Continuation of Scholarship-

Annual regeneration of Scholarship will be done for candidates maintaining a good academic performance of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA and 50% or equivalent CGPA for SC/ST/PWD. However, in the following year, if they get 60% marks or equivalent CGPA and 50% or equivalent CGPA for SC/ST/PWD on aggregate over all the previous years, the scholarship will be regenerated from that year. This came into effect from 2012 and onwards.

Eligibility-

The scholarship is given to Indian students who intend to continue under the graduate program as correspondence course of any university are not eligible to apply.

Students registered in an undergraduate program in Basic Sciences, that is, B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in any field of Science.

Selection Procedure-

  1. Aptitude Test- After analysis of application forms and the eligibility criteria’s for various streams, all eligible candidates are called for aptitude test conducted both in Hindi and English at different countrywide centers on November 6, 2016.The details of the center of the aptitude test for the eligible candidates and their seat number will be published online in the second week of October.

Admit Card- Candidates can download the admit card for the aptitude test from the website from the second week of October 2016.

  1. Interview- On the basis of performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students will be asked to come for an interview which is the last stage of the selection procedure.

Application-

There are three steps in the process of registration-

Step 1- Registration

Step 2- Filling the personal and educational details and choosing the center of the test and then uploading the photo and signatures and other required certificates need for the process of registration.

Step 3- Payment of fees of application. It is paid only through the portal of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana. It could be done either by using debit-card or credit-card or by downloading a Challan form from the portal. Once payment will be done successfully and the application will be submitted no refund will be made.

Application Fees for the year 2016 is as follows-

For General Category or OBC, the fees amount to Rs.1000

And for SC/ST/PWD the fees amount to Rs.500.
