How stress can impact your sexual health?

During the Covid-19 pandemic, stress and anxiety has become a common part of life. Stress and anxiety have negative impacts on your health in different ways. Stress not only impacts your mental health but sexual health also. Here are some negative impacts of sexual health on your body and tips to prevent them. 

Stress lead to hormonal imbalance 

Stress leads to hormonal imbalance and which can further cause many complications. Harmonal balance can cause loss of interest into sex. In females hormonal imbalance often causes irregular periods, mood swings and other issues. hormones regulate your reproductive cycle, sex drive and mood. So imbalance of these harmons can have a negative effect on your sex life.

Stress can cause a low libido 

When you get anxiety and stress the body undergoes several changes. It releases several hormones to fight the stress, and the response also triggers the release of hormones, such as cortisol and epinephrine.  high levels of these harmones can cause decreased sex drive. When stress is chronic, that can  decrease your interest in sex. 

Stress can have negative effects on Sperm quality 

According to a research conducted by the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and Soroka University Medical Center in Israel, it was found that just two months of stress may damage a man’s sperm and reduce his chances of having children. So it is very important to choose a lifestyle which can help you lower your stress levels. 

Stress can lead to irregularities in Menstrual Cycle 

Stress can affect hormonal balance in the body. In females  hypothalamus is the part of the brain that controls the menstrual cycle. It’s sensitive to external factors like exercise, sleep and stress. High amounts of anxiety and stress can interrupt the normal functioning of this part and the release of hormones estrogen and progesterone. 

Sometimes stress can lead to depression and other health issues. To manage stress one way is to practice yoga asanas. There are different asanas which are helpful to relieve stress and keep your mind and body calm.
