For cleaning drum, you require hot water, bleaching powder or vinegar, and baking soda. You can either use bleaching powder or you can use white vinegar. Bleaching powder consists of contains chlorine that is toxic in nature. Vinegar is not harmful but it not that much effective as well. Apart from these two, you can also use hydrogen peroxide and citric acid. These two substances are effective against dirt and molds and are non-toxic in nature.

The following procedure can be followed to clean the washing drum:

  • Adjust the settings to the highest load size, longest wash cycle, and hottest water
  • Now, as the water fills up in the drum, add 2 cups of vinegar and 1 cup of baking soda
  • Close the lid, and let the load operate for a minute. After this, open the lid, and let the solution work for an hour
  • After an hour, drain the solution to remove the solution along with the impurities. Some of the impurities might remain in the drum. To remove these, run one more wash cycle. Add hot water and 1 cup of vinegar in this

Another way to clean the internal system is using enzyme detergents and oxygen bleach. Add these two agents in the drum, fill it water, and run the wash cycle to clean it thoroughly.
